Calle Coyoacán, 2014

kinetic papel picado sculpture: silkscreen on oilcloth
46 x 46 x 46 in.
private collection

The photo was taken in Coyoacán, Mexico in the 1930’s or 40’s. My grandmother is pictured in the dark dress, getting ready to step out with her “comadres.” Frida Kahlo & Diego Rivera lived close by and were well known in the neighborhood at the time.
