POETRY

Poetry by Margaret 'Quica' Alarcon written and revised between 2001-present:

Cuahitlicac (Uprigth Tree)

Deer sacred, giving tree
I give thanks for
Precious elements
within me
Medicine wheel turning
Breathing AIR

Drinking WATER
Waking EARTH
Burning FIRE
Bears and mirrors
Bathing tears
Release these fears
Oh Great Spirit
You know my name
I am love
We are one in the same
I open my heart
In loving communication
I am safe, I am well
I am home within

* Cuahitlicac: A Nauhatl word meaning "Upright Tree",
the part that knows how to speak with the heart in sincerity

Eleventh of November

my blue moon
open
i am wide open
fasting for peace
painful healing energy
leads me
the mistress of spices
to the spirit world
in smiling crying mirrors
i catch a dream
see you in me
hold my hand
close to your heart
you love me
say you will never leave

fading in and out
only part of me left

needs to die

pink candles
red moments
this pain never seems to leave

almost there

ashamed for you to see me so broken,
don't want this in our backpacks
cry quietly in the night
parasites
toxic poisons in my guts
trying to get out
my body wants to heal
heal the world

such bliss
this dream, your heart

close to mine
dreams keep me strong and alive
wondrous visions of beauty
love together
build a bigger dream for this world
stronger, open to peace
justice for women, children
for family, community
shape shifting people around me
guardian spirits affect me
protect my quest
inner peace for love
caught in this dream

i can fight
i have my own will

one is the magic number

Lady of Motion

I am mujer maiz
Moving through colors
Dancing bear ceremony Brings new life
Opening crown
To pink elephants A circus clown fearful of new beginnings

Cry, cry, cry
BREATHE
LOVE
RELEASE
PEACE

I am lady of motion
Overwhelmed by emotion
Purple on my mind
Lost in time
In Love
Again
Called upon passions
To ripen from within

Cry, cry, cry
BREATHE
LOVE
RELEASE
PEACE

I am mujer Montana
Hiking sunsets and stars
Songs in the key of life
Inter-nal-net hell wounds
2 blue
2 speak
Broken silent
Incomplete

Cry, cry, cry
BREATHE
LOVE
RELEASE
PEACE

I am a Tolteca goddess
Green grass green heart
Good on my soul
Heals real fine
Makes me whole
Ring of fire
Tree of hope
Its all too much

Cry, cry, cry
BREATHE
LOVE
RELEASE
PEACE

I am hummingbird joys
Yellow, reborn, bright
And I just can't sleep at night
Caught in collective
Dreamworld cage
Working, working
Commerce rage

Cry, cry, cry
BREATHE
LOVE
RELEASE
PEACE

I am butterfly-dancing queen
A monarch of orange guts
Everywhere, everywhere
Should have cared
Body, mind, spirit,
We
Please
Forgive me

Cry, cry, cry
BREATHE
LOVE
RELEASE
PEACE

I am Mexican Virgens
Softly red-root
Praying with stones
Weeping, weeping
Washing blocks of pain
Laugh, bitch, moan, speak
STAND BACK!
THE BOMBS GONNA BLOW!

Cry, cry, cry
BREATHE
LOVE
RELEASE
PEACE

I am love
I am light
I am here
Moving through dreams
Without fear, shame or blame
Laugh, laugh
Laugh till it hurts
Laugh till I cry

Cry, cry, cry
BREATHE
LOVE
RELEASE
PEACE.
