2015 Mujeres de Maiz Summer Arts

In the summer of 2015 I volunteered to teach 11 community art classes for Mujeres de Maiz.

For three nights I taught ages 14 to adults and during the day I served ages 5 and up.

It was a very hot a grueling summer, but my students were tough and eager to learn. Some were more experienced while others were excited to have their first formal experience in visual art. Students practiced drawing, painting, weaving, silkscreen. chalk ,pastel and acrylic. We made self portraits, landscapes, paper murals and posters of protest and persuasion.
